Toolkit Definitions

Back Button:
Browser function for returning to the previous screen. It is recommended to use the buttons provided within the toolkit to navigate back to a page. Using the browser back button may cause incorrect data to display.
Bookmark/Favorite:
Browser function for storing URLs
Browser:
Software package that allows Internet browsing, such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox.
Cache:
A temporary storage area for recently accessed data used to speed up the computer operations.
Consumer Toolkit (Toolkit):
A Web site that allows members to view a variety of dental benefits-related information. Subscribers may:
  • Review eligibility information
  • Review detailed individual benefit information
  • Review status of claims
  • Print an ID card
  • Review dental health information
  • Locate a participating dentist
Encryption:
The process of converting readable data into unreadable characters to prevent unauthorized access.
Explanation of Benefits (EOB):
A document with line-by-line detail of a processed claim.
Home Page:
The page that appears after sign-in
Internet Service Provider (ISP):
A commercial company that provides Internet access
Member Number/SSN:
A nine-digit number used to identify a subscriber. Generally, the member number is the subscriber's Social Security number, however, some groups assign unique identification numbers to their members.
Refresh:
A browser function that forces redisplay of the current page
Scroll Bars:
A tool for viewing parts of the Web page that aren't visible on the screen. Appears as a bar with arrow buttons on the bottom or side of a Web page.
Status bar:
A field showing the browser's current activity, such as Loading or Done
Title Bar:
The area at the top of the screen that show in a application title
URL:
An Internet address such as https://www.toolkitsonline.com/ct
